These terms are a starting point written by the developer, not a lawyer. Liability limits, consumer-rights carve-outs, refund rules and governing law all need review against the jurisdictions Karot is sold in before Karot is offered for sale.

Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These terms are between you and 7Otters LLC, 1930 18th St NW Suite B2 PMB 2261, Washington, DC 20009 ("7Otters", "we"). By installing or using the Karot Android app, Chrome extension or iOS app, or by calling api.karotapp.com (together, "Karot"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Karot. 2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Karot. If Karot is ever offered in the EU or UK, you must be at least 16 there.

3. What Karot does

Karot reads your contacts with your permission and helps you track when you last spoke with someone. It makes suggestions on your device. Karot stores its data inside your own Google Contacts; we do not operate a contact database on your behalf. Our Privacy Policy explains what data Karot handles and forms part of these terms.

4. Licence

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the Karot apps and extension for your own use, under these terms. We keep all rights not granted here. 5. Your content and your Google account

The notes, traits and goals you write belong to you. Karot stores them in your own Google Contacts. You are responsible for the Google account you connect and for having the right to store the notes you write about other people. If you use Karot on several devices at once, the last write wins and an edit can be overwritten. Keep your own backups of anything you cannot afford to lose.

6. Acceptable use

  • Do not use Karot to harass, stalk, profile or build dossiers on people.
  • Do not attempt to extract API credentials, exceed published rate limits, or resell access to the API.
  • Do not submit content that is unlawful, or that you are not permitted to process.
  • Do not use messages or cards sent through Karot to send unlawful, threatening or harassing content. You are responsible for what you send.

We may suspend or revoke access that breaches these rules or that threatens the availability or cost of the service.

7. Paid features, goods and services

Nothing is on sale at launch. These terms allow for what may be offered later:

  • Membership. Free use covers a limited number of people. An annual membership may unlock more. A membership renews automatically each year until you cancel. Prices are on the pricing page, and the price and renewal terms shown at checkout and on the pricing page form part of these terms.
  • Physical goods. We may sell physical goods, such as handwritten cards, fulfilled by a card printing and mailing partner named on the service providers page. Shipping, delivery and returns terms for goods will be shown at checkout. [ATTORNEY: shipping and undeliverable-mail terms]

8. Idea rewards

7Otters may from time to time offer rewards, such as a lifetime membership, for ideas submitted by members, under separate idea rewards rules posted on the website, which are incorporated by reference. 9. Availability

Karot is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. There is no uptime commitment. Features that depend on Google's APIs may change or stop working when those APIs change.

10. Warranties and liability

11. Termination

You may stop using Karot at any time by uninstalling it and revoking its access to your Google account. We may terminate access for breach of these terms or if we discontinue the service. If we discontinue a paid service, we will give reasonable notice.

12. Changes
